Baja Fresh Wraps

Baja Fresh Wraps, originally uploaded by Em Dy.

I had no idea fish fillet and tortilla would taste good together until I tried it at Bigby's. Yum-O!

Spareribs Rice

Spareribs Rice, originally uploaded by Em Dy.

A personal favorite. It's what I order all the time at Le Ching. This photo, however, was taken at Mongkok.

Tofu Cheesecake

Tofu Cheesecake, originally uploaded by Em Dy.

Healthier probably. Tasty but quite different. Not at all like the New York cheesecake that I love. I didn't like it at all. Mom's trusted aide Nene finished what I got.

Paella

Paella, originally uploaded by Em Dy.

I used to not like paella. But that was before I ate at Casa Armas where it won me over. Now, I eat paella when it's cooked at home and long for the day when I can eat in Casa Armas again.

By the way, this was our New Year's day lunch.

It's All in the Salsa

Nacho Fast, originally uploaded by Em Dy.

What one puts on top of nachos make the experience different for each one. I love nachos and was one of those who got saddened that my favorite branch closed shop recently. Now I just have to get my fix somewhere else.

Tikoy Turon

Turon, originally uploaded by Em Dy.

This is a house specialty. Tikoy and kundol or ube wrapped in lumpia wrapper then deep fried. Crunchy on the outside, soft and chewy on the inside.

Birthday Noodles

Birthday Noodles, originally uploaded by Em Dy.

A must for a Filipino birthday: noodles for long life. More important than cake. I wonder if there are other traditions observed with birthdays elsewhere.

Mainit na Sabaw

Hototai, originally uploaded by Em Dy.

This is Hototai, what we had for lunch today. It is a clear soup with mixed greens, cauliflower, string beans, young corn, chicken and shrimp. Raw egg is added to it while it's still hot and just before serving.

Biscocho

Biscocho, originally uploaded by Em Dy.

Whoever thought that all biscocho are hard obviously has not tasted Pasuquin biscocho. This was highly recommended to us by Dr. Joven Cuanang of Sitio Remedios. We were glad to have stopped at Pasuqun Bakery. The biscocho is available two ways: soft and toasted. The soft we devoured right away - with butter and jam and mango juice on the side once we were back at the resort. The toasted one we brought for friends back home. Yummy!

Summer Perk

Sugarcane, originally uploaded by Em Dy.

One of the perks of summer is sitting by the beach while sipping cold drinks. What you see in the photo is what was served us at Sitio Remedios. That's not a huge stirrer but actually something to actually munch on while enjoying the drink.

Taken April 2008 at Sitio Remedios in Currimao, Ilocos.
