Great Timing

SeeItSunday.net

Food Magazine, originally uploaded by Em Dy.

I was quite happy to see this magazine at the airport newsstand. After all, we were on our way to Ilocos and it would most certainly help. I read it on the plane and just before going to bed at Balay Radrillo in Sitio Remedios. It was a great help.

That's not it's real name but since I took this photo outside a McCafe, I'm calling it a McFlower.

A Prisoner's Mother and Child

SeeItSunday.net

Mother and Child by Rodrigo Addu, originally uploaded by Em Dy.

This painting is not by me but by Rodrigo Addu, a prisoner serving 3 counts of reclusio perpetua. His painting is but one of the many artwork on display at the Marian Exhibit at Shangri-La Plaza which I had the opportunity to see yesterday. Aside from the prisoners' artwork which are for sale, religious art are also on display, most of them antiques and just for show. The event is a joint undertaking of Radio Veritas and Caritas Restorative Justice Ministry which aims to uplift the lives of prisoners. It runs from October 11 to 26.

What I found interesting about this piece is that it was made through wood burning. A guide actually told me that the end of a Katol or mosquito coil is used.

Don't Leave Home Without It

SeeItSunday.net

In-flight Meals, originally uploaded by Em Dy.

The only time I experienced a flight delay enough to make me miss my connecting flight home was during my flight from Brisbane to Singapore in August 2006 because of some catering problems. We weren't allowed to board our flight but instead were asked to wait because of some issues with the in-flight meals. The whole time, Singapore Airlines took care of us; gave us meal coupons for use in the terminal restaurants, provided hotel and transportation for those of us who missed our connecting flights, booked us on the next flights home and handed us SIA souvenirs.

Taken August 2006 at Brisbane Airport.

Cape Bojeador Lighthouse

Cape Bojeador Lighthouse, originally uploaded by Em Dy.

This is also known as the Burgos Lighthouse, taking the name of the town where it is erected. It is considered a heritage structure as it dates back to more than a hundred years. It carries the distinction of being the highest elevated lighthouse in the Philippines. Like other lighthouses, its bright light has guided the way of many at sea.

Calle Crisologo

Calle Crisologo - Kalesa, originally uploaded by Em Dy.

This was what I so wanted to see during my recent trip to Ilocos. Calle Crisologo is the image most iconic of Vigan. Cobblestone lined street. Preserved storehouses. Horse drawn carriages. Truly wow Philippines.

An Uncomplicated Life

Chocolates, originally uploaded by Em Dy.

Is like a box of Paton's Macadamia Royals. You always know what you're going to get.

That is, premium roasted macadamia nuts coated in rich dark chocolate.

This entry was inspired by the movie Forrest Gump.
