May mga karanasang mahirap makalimutan. Isa na dyan ang pagkain ng durian. Naaalala mo pa ba ang una mong pagkakataon? Langit ba o impyernong naramdaman mo? Basta ako, di na ako uulit.

There are experiences that are hard to forget. One is eating durian. Do you still remember your first time? Was it heaven or hell? As for me, I wouldn't dare again.

Perfect Combination

When our Davao hosts brought us to a farmer's market to sample the durian, they insisted that I order Coke instead of water. They said that durian and coke go well together. I haven't drank Coke for the last 10 months but they didn't have to insist any further. If it will help me get through hell faster, then I'm all for it.

Heaven or Hell

Tastes like heaven, smells like hell

That's what they say about the durian, a fruit synonymous to Davao City. We were there last weekend and like many tourists before us had to go through this rite of passage. For me, it was neither heaven or hell. I'd grown accustomed to the smell as Mom's trusted aide Nene loves this so much and regularly buys her fill. As for the taste, I don't think it's heavenly. Durian is something I won't miss.
