And Out She Came Running

A woman shouted from the street and Mom's trusted aide Nene shouted back and started running to our gate.

The woman had just shouted Suman! Her favorite.

Suman is a native delicacy of the Philippines. As you can see from the photo, it comes in different shapes and sizes. Some are short and stout; yet others are long and thin. The difference does not end there and lies inside the covering made of leaves. They vary in terms of color, ingredients, taste, etc. Some go well with sugar, syrup or even mangoes.

This was what I so wanted to see during my recent trip to Ilocos. Calle Crisologo is the image most iconic of Vigan. Cobblestone lined street. Preserved storehouses. Horse drawn carriages. Truly wow Philippines.

Pearl Harbor

Ang atake sa Pearl Harbor ay isang malungkot na pangyayari ng kasaysayan ng mundo. Ito ang naghudyat ng digmaan sa Timog Silangang Asya, kasama ang Pilipinas. Ang U.S.S. Arizona Memorial ay matatagpuan sa gitna ng dagat at maaaring marating ng mga panauhin pagkatapos ng isang maikling paglalakbay gamit ang isang bangka. Dito maaaring magbigay pugay sa mga nagbuwis ng buhay noong Disyembre 7, 1941.

The attack on Pearl Harbor is a sad event in world history. It marked the beginning of World War II in Southeast Asia, including the Philippines. The U.S.S. Arizona Memorial is located offshore and may be reached after a short boat ride. Here, visitors pay tribute to the men and women who gave their lives that fateful day of December 7, 1941.
