Flowers are among the most photographed subjects in the world because of their beauty and colors. When photographed in black and white, a somber mood prevails.

There are two reasons why the photo is a sad one. First is the black and white interpretation. Second is the subject. The photo shows the leis offered on top of the marker acknowledging the bravery of men and women in the face of war, heroes all.

Let's rest, said the rig driver to the horse. Let's stay in the shade, he added. Do you take a break? Or allow others to do so? You should. Everybody deserves a break.
