Napanood mo na ba ang From Here to Eternity, ang Oscar Best Picture nung 1953? Ang litratong ito ay kuha ng Halona Cove. Dito kinunan ang love scene ni Burt Lancaster at Deborah Kerr kung saan pinakita ang dalawang naglalampungan sa dalampasigan. Nung panahong yun, ang ganung klaseng eksena ay itinuring na mapangahas at erotik.

Have you seen the movie From Here to Eternity, 1953 Oscar Best Picture? This is a shot of Halona Cove, where the love scene of Burt Lancaster and Deborah Kerr showing them making out in the sand was filmed. At that time, the scene was considered risque and erotic.

This is Hototai, what we had for lunch today. It is a clear soup with mixed greens, cauliflower, string beans, young corn, chicken and shrimp. Raw egg is added to it while it's still hot and just before serving.

Paglubog ng Araw

Medyo nahirapan ako sa tema ng linggong ito. Napagbabaligtad ko kasi ang katumbas na salita sa Tagalog ng north, south, east and west. Buti na lang, nadiskubre kong mali pala ang una kong iniisip. Medyo nahirapan din akong humanap ng litrato hanggang sa maalala ko ang katagang "East is where the sun rises; West is where it sets". Kaya ayan, sabay sabay na ting pagmasdan ang paglubog ng araw.

I had some difficulty with the theme for this week. I am confused with the Tagalog translations of north, south east and west. It's good that I discovered that I was lost in translation. I also had some difficulty finding a photograph until I remembered that "East is where the sun rises; West is where it sets". So there, let's watch the sunset together.

Perfect Combination

When our Davao hosts brought us to a farmer's market to sample the durian, they insisted that I order Coke instead of water. They said that durian and coke go well together. I haven't drank Coke for the last 10 months but they didn't have to insist any further. If it will help me get through hell faster, then I'm all for it.

Biscocho

Whoever thought that all biscocho are hard obviously has not tasted Pasuquin biscocho. This was highly recommended to us by Dr. Joven Cuanang of Sitio Remedios. We were glad to have stopped at Pasuqun Bakery. The biscocho is available two ways: soft and toasted. The soft we devoured right away - with butter and jam and mango juice on the side once we were back at the resort. The toasted one we brought for friends back home. Yummy!

Korteng sumbrero, di ba? Ito ang isla ng Mokoli'i na kilala rin sa pangalang Chinaman's Hat. Matatagpuan ito sa Oahu, Hawaii. Madalas itong makita sa mga pelikula. Isa dito ang Along Came Polly kung saan ang isang eksena ay kuha kunyari sa St. Barts. Sa Hawaii pala ito kinunan!

At saka nga pala, may isa pa kong kuhang luntian dito.

Shaped like a hat, right? This is Mokoli'i Island, also known as Chinaman's Hat. This is located in Oahu, Hawaii and is frequently seen in the movies. One such movie is Along Came Polly where a scene is supposebly set in St. Barts. The scene was actually filmed in Hawaii.
