An Enchanted Ceiling

Festivita Food Court, originally uploaded by Em Dy.

In Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone, JK Rowling introduced us to the concept of the enchanted ceiling at Hogwarts. Well, Muggles do not have to cross to the magical world to see one. The photo above was taken at Festivita Food Court in The Venetian Macao, just one of the areas in the integrated resort with a fake sky. I read somewhere that this was done to lull shoppers into thinking that it's not yet time to go and that there's still more time to shop.

That's really pretty. So it stays like that so the shoppers always think it's early? I bet that works pretty well.

I liked the Venetian Macau when I was there a few months ago. I also liked the gondola and the canal that was set up within it.

The only thing I wasn't crazy about was with the food court. Communication was a clear problem in that a lot of the servers did not speak a word of English. I also wasn't that happy with the quality of the food. Plus, they did not accept credit cards. Everything had to be paid in cash. It goes to show that they're still primarily catering to the Chinese market.

The place still has ways to go before it can rival Las Vegas as a global gambling haven.

Panaderos, I noticed that problem about credit cards too in most of Macau. One must definitely bring cash when traveling to Macau. With taxi drivers, we usually show pictures of where we want to go but most of the time, they still don't get it.

Scotty Graham, thanks.

It´s always day then? I bet it works if the customers are a bit drunk. This was an excellent pic and story. Thanks!

Chrome3d, drunk with alcohol or shopping perhaps?
